Gizmo's Image Protection Proof of Concept
Try saving the banana, as you will see, you can't right click, at all, so you
can't use the "space" trick that generally subverts most image hot linking...
Now try dragging the image to your toolbar... Nothing happens huh...
Now, try selecting text, still works, so user can still save content...
Generally I'm against image hot linking protection, the popups are quite annoying and you can generally
subvert them easily. This method is not perfect (as users can still view the page source, or take a
screenshot to save images) but it works a LOT better than anything that I've seen before, PLUS it works
in the image tag, so you can save your images while allowing users to copy text...
Now, how is this done you ask? It's quite simple, and works in the
image tag (you could drop it into a div and wrap it around your body and protect
your text as well):
This text should be selectable but un-copyable (except for via the "edit" menu).
